2009 Recap
The 10th Annual Spring Shootout was another great day of lacrosse for the players,
coaches, and fans. Twelve Northeast Ohio schools were able to get out and enjoy
the sun and nice weather and play 2 scrimmages each.
As part of the event, Greater Cleveland Lacrosse, Kent State University, Midwest
Lacrosse, Kesslers Team Sports, Hudson High School Lacrosse, Kent Roosevelt High
School Lacrosse, Chagrin Falls High School Lacrosse, Jackson High School Lacrosse,
and Walsh Jesuit High School Lacrosse were able to raise over $2,800.00 for
the Wounded Warrior Project.
On behalf of all the programs, we would like to thank the fans who contributed to
the effort as well. We couldn't have done it without you. To further support the
WWP and the men and women of the armed forces that they help, visit
the Wounded Warrior Project for more details and information.
General Information
What?
12 teams from Northeast Ohio will be scrimmaging in the Kent State Field House or
at KSU's Dix Stadium from 9:00 am until 6:00 pm.
For the Primary Schedule, each team plays one scrimmage (four, 16-minute running
time quarters, with 2 minute breaks). Each team gets one time-out per half. All
scrimmages would be played indoors at the Kent State Field House and run from 9:00
am – 6:00 PM.
If the weather permits, we can shift to an alternate schedule where each team would
play two scrimmages. To make the scrimmages a bit more competitive, we would allow
the winners to play the second scrimmage indoors, while the losers would play the
second scrimmage outside.
The officials will be using this event as training sessions. The Spring Shootout
has become a major help in the development and training of officials in Ohio. We
routinely draw officials from the Northeast, Central, and Northwest regions of Ohio
for this event.
